Handy Dad Fencing stands as an unparalleled mark of refinement within the industry. It is our belief that fences are not solely utilitarian, but also can provide an aesthetic finish to your property.  We often refer to the great architect, Frank Lloyd Wright extending the phrase, “form follows function.”  The idea being that, a fence may be utilitarian in concept, to keep a pet in or people out, it is still within that idea where we can not only achieve that primary goal, but your fence can still have a clean, finished and beautiful feel that maintains a natural harmony within the space of the property.

While  others tend to focus on “getting in and getting out,” we will continue to stay focused on the details within the fence and ultimately the importance of the beauty of the fence when completed.

ABOUT US

Charles grew up with a hammer and a piece of wood in his hand while in his dads garage.  He would find hand tools and scraps of wood laying around and just start building.  As time went on and Charles grew older, he watched a local handyman doing repairs at his parents house and took an interest in the remodeling and repair trade. Charles graduated high school after studying drafting, construction and woodworking. He parlayed that excitement for the construction industry into a job with, you guessed it, that handyman who was doing repairs at his parents house years earlier.  After Charles graduated high school, he entered Indiana-Purdue University and studied architectural engineering where he honed his skills and gained a deep understanding of the principles of architecture, construction and aesthetics. Eventually, the handyman decided to retire and move leaving Charles to venture out on his own. With Charles’ experience in construction, a local fence company approached him to be an outside sales rep and installer.  After a short period with the company, Charles left the business and eventually continued this trade on his own.

We always have the opportunity to learn, not only from our past but also the present. For nearly 30 years in the remodeling and fence industry and all those we’ve spent time working for and with, we’ve had the opportunity to see both the good and bad- from the sales side of the business to the on-site encounter with homeowners to the physical installation and work. During the past 30 years, we’ve had the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.  We’ve learned what dedication, integrity, commitment and business ethics truly entail.  After years of being in the shadow and saying, “their business ethics and ours don’t align,” we stepped away to start Handy Dad Fencing.

For the past approximately twelve years we’ve dedicated ourselves to doing fence installation during the spring through fall months. We still stay active during the winter months resorting back to our past years of remodeling experience by doing a gamut of interior remodeling work.

In March of 2020, we added Andrew into the company full-time.  Andrew spent the previous 7 years working part-time while still maintaining full time employment between the aerospace and flooring industries.  Andrew joined the team full time to take over as lead foreman for the on-site projects, director of human resources, and Andrew also oversees parts of the day to day financial operations. Andrew also plans, coordinates and schedules for all the upcoming quotes.  Simply, Andrew has established himself as a integral part of the team.  Andrew has spent the past approximately 25 years in the remodeling business working along side his father doing all types of remodeling work. After graduating high school, Andrew continued to display his strong work ethic and values that his father taught him. Andrew used all his skills to continue in the remodeling business, while also working with Charles part time in the fence business.  Even during that time, Andrew still maintained a full time job as a project coordinator in the flooring and the aerospace industry.

Andrew and Charles have known each other and even spent time working together on projects for nearly the past 25 years. During that time together, it has allowed the two to build a respect based on each others work ethic, commitment and values.  Because of the great friendship and trust built, it has allowed the two to share a impervious work relationship based on a solid foundation which they carry forward in the fence business today.

We have built this business solely through our attention to detail, craftsmanship and the willingness to have an upfront and honest relationship with all our customers. Serving our homeowners is what drives us to not only deliver a quality product but also quality craftsmanship.  Your commitment in believing in us is what allows us to stay focused and committed to doing the things we feel most compassionate about.  Without you, the homeowner and your referrals and trust we wouldn’t be where we are today.
